5 areas God wants to overshadow us:

  – birth a fresh baptism of righteousness
  – God has made it so clear and easy to be forgiven, just one way so it’s not confusing
  – birth a fresh conviction of judgement

3. We need to be overshadowed to be filled with fresh power for bold proclamation (Acts 4:1-8)

Three Words from God, Dec 21, 2008

Jesus first chose us, we didn’t choose Him.

Matt 25:14-30 parable of the talents
– look at what God’s given me and be grateful
– we have been given talents

Luke 13:6-8 parable of the vineyard where a tree didn’t produce fruit
– the vineyard owner keeps coming and looking for fruit
– some of us have talents we used in the past but no longer produce fruit with them. They either need to be fertilized and produce fruit again or removed.

2 Cor. 10:1-6 taking every thought captive
– our thought life is our greatest weapon of spiritual warfare
– taking every thought captive
– in every argument or disagreement, bring it into submission to Christ

The Prince of Peace, Dec 14, 2008

The Prince of Peace
– God wants us to live in His peace

Isa. 9:6-7
– Jesus is the Prince of Peace – the Message translation says “the Prince of Wholeness”

Luke 2:10-14
– the angels bless the shepherds with peace

Definitions of peace:
– rest, wholeness, completeness, tranquility, favor, well

– what are your needs? live under God’s peace
– as Christians, we’re not exempt from problems in the world, but it’s our response that makes a difference

How do I walk in God’s peace?
John 14:27 – Jesus was leaving the world but left his peace
Phil.4:6-7 – I need to roll all my cares and anxieties on to Jesus for Him to carry and I take His peace
– Jesus’ peace surpasses all understanding
Rom 5:1 – Jesus’ peace will save us

Chosen, Dec 7, 2008

Luke 1:26-38

John 3:3-8;15:16
– I didn’t choose God, He chose me and allowed me to be saved from my sin.

Col. 3:12-17
– God has chosen me to be where I am right now to bear fruit

Because we are chosen of God…
– we are made holy
– we are forgiven
– we are to put on a heart of compassion and other fruit of the Spirit (Col. 3:10)
– we are to forgive others just as many times as God has forgiven us, which is more than we can count.
