Luke 15
Being the church in our world

1. Lost things matter to God
 – lost relationships, lost finances, lost people
a- like sheep, we need to be rescued constantly
b- sheep will go wherever there is grass to eat
c- sheep are utterly hopeless to rescue themselves

Prodigal
 – recklessly extravagent, spending everything
 – tax collectors and sinners – the younger brother
 – Pharisees and teachers of the law – the older brother
 – in the Bible culture, to eat with someone is to be-friend them
 – this story shows that both the free spirited and the religious/moralistic are spiritually lost – dead ends
