Matt. 6:1-4
Luke 6:38 – giving mercy, kindness, etc, not just money – how do you want it reciprocated back to you?
Acts 20:35 – God wants us to enter into the joy of giving
Prov. 11:24-25 – live with open hands, it’s all God’s and not mine anyway
– our intentions don’t get anything done, on ly our actions
– need an action plan to follow your intentions

10. give more as you make more – God prospers us not to raise our standard of living, but to raise our standard of giving

When You Pray, Part 2, Jan 19, 2014

– Matt 6:5-8, Luke 11:1-2
– Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven
– God’s not here to wait on me, I’m here to wait on God
– so many of us come to God with a checklist of what we want or need without acknowledging that His will and timing be done
– God doesn’t exist for you, you exist for God
– Matt. 6:11 – here we are looking to and depending on God for our daily provision – we need to go to God daily for our provision
– daily dependence and communion with God
– Matt. 6:12, Mark 11:25-26 – this is a key component to answered prayer – praying from a heart that is free from offense
– unforgiveness blocks your prayer
– you’re the only person that can deal with your own offense
– Prov. 4:24
– Matt. 6:13 – this recognizing we need to walk circumspectly, knowing the days are evil, our popensity to give into the flesh and be deceived by the evil one
– similar to Psalm 141:4
– Matt. 6:13 – we conclude wiht reminding ourselves who’s Kingdom it is, who the power belongs to and who the glory is for
– whether we pray petitionary prayers, intercessory prayers, contemplative prayers, prayers of supplication, prayers of thanksgiving, prayers of agreement, prayers of declaration we are reminded we are to honor the name of God, we are depending on His power, His provision, His glory to come forth.  We are believing to be led in righteous paths, walking in forgiveness as we are forgiven and believing for His Kingdom to be established.

When You Fast, Jan 5, 2014

Matt 6:16-18, 9:14-15
– fasting is the voluntary abstaining from food sometimes liquids for spiritual purposes. To take the time you would normally spen in preparation and give it in pursuit of God, His Kingdom, His ways. It is giving up the pleasure of food which is good for the greater good of seeking God and His Kingdom.
– why fast?
1. a greater expression of contrition, humility, urgency, repentance (Mark 8:34-35)
2. as an expression of greater dependency on God – fasting will help you draw closer to God (Ps. 35:13, Matt. 17:21)
3. as an expression of greater danger (2 Chron. 20:1-4, Esther 4:3-16)
4. as an expression of a greater longing for the work of God to be done on the earth
5. as an expression of greater clarity in prayer (Isa. 58:4, Dan 9:1-3, Joel 2:12-13)
6. as an expression of an approved ministry (2 Cor. 6:4-5)
7. as an expression of greater love and devotion (Ps. 63:1-8)
