If shame isn’t dealt with, it can lead to paranoia, excessive perfectionism, or it can leave a person as nothing but a doormat for others. But God has a cure for shame. Hebrews 12:2 tells us that Jesus “endured the cross, scorning its shame…”. At the Cross both types of shame need to be left there! Leave the misplaced shame and the well-placed shame. Leave the “If onlys”, the regrets of things you did and didn’t do but wished you would have or know you should have.
