Be Brave Now, Oct 10, 2010

Joshua 1:1-9
– God says the same thing Jesus says to us today “I will never leave you or forsake you” (v.5)
– 3 different times God says to be strong and courageous (v.9)
– “be very courageous” (v.7)
– God says this to Joshua and says it to us today, be brave in transitional times in your life
– God reign in and through me
– we are created to be a conqueror and a decision maker

4 Challenges:
1. spousal abuse
2. financial crisis
3. career crisis
4. health crisis
– don’t resist encouragement

– God needs us to be the omdern day Joshuas, by God’s grace, I can go home, look myself in the mirror, and say to myself, “Be brave now”.
– remind yourself Phil. 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
– you need to check out of that hotel of discouragement
– it’s never too late to be brave now

Jonah – got frightened and ran away instead of being brave
– your moment to be brave will be the moment you want to shrink back
– when you feel small, that’s the time to be tall

David – was brave and ran into the battle with Goliath

– bravery can help you re-write your history
– when you are brave, it makes a difference in other people’s lives
– destiny is altered when you are brave
– get in the Word of God and meditate on it and act on it.
