  – fruit is needed to strengthen our inner life: love (John 15:13), joy (Rom. 14:17), peace (Rom. 15:13)
  – fruit is needed for our relationships with others: patience (James 1:3-4), kindness (Titus 3:1-7), goodness (Rom. 2:4-5)
  – fruit is needed for a truly successful life: faithfulness – dependability, trustworthiness (Deut. 4:40), gentleness (Gal. 6:1), self-control (Gal. 5:22-23)
– common themes associated with the fruit of the Holy Spirit
  – fruit starts with God, is seen by Jesus and works through us by Holy Spirit
  – fruit is impossible in our own strength – it is developedd and grown by Holy Spirit
  fruit developed in us shows spiritual maturity
